Fabian Schar returned to action after a knee injury on Monday afternoon
Fabian Schar made his return from a knee injury for Newcastle United’s under-23’s side on Monday afternoon.
The defender played 45 minutes against Crystal Palace, and helped his side to a 2-0 win that moves them off the bottom of the u23 Division Two table.
The Switzerland international is back from a knee injury sustained in February when playing for the Magpies in a 3-2 victory over Southampton when he was hurt after attempting a shot after a free-kick rebounded to him.
Schar now hopes to put himself in contention for the final five games of the Premier League season, and break into a Magpies side that is on it’s longest unbeaten run of the season.
Steve Bruce’s team has took eight points from their last 12 available and moved clear of the relegation zone, after flirting with the drop for the first few months of 2021.
The centre-back has played 19 times this term and is also eager to be fit for the European Championships which take place in June.
