Seagulls end long streak without a win

Brighton gave their fans a late Christmas present with a win against Brentford – their first in 12 Premier League games.

The Seagulls wrapped up the victory with two first-half goals – Leandro Trossard opened the scoring with a sublime chip before Neal Maupay curled in a wonderful second for Graham Potter’s side.

After a promising start to the season, Brighton have found goals hard to come by, but there was no sign of such shyness in this game.

The visitors had chances to come away with a result, particularly in the second half, but goalkeeper Robert Sanchez denied them with a couple of superb saves.

The result means Brighton move up to ninth in the table, having completed the double over Brentford who have dropped to 13th.
