Arsenal have made it two wins from two as boss Mikel Arteta continues to turn things around in North London.
Arsenal did again find themselves far from their best at Turf Moor but Martin Odegaard’s fantastic first half free kick secured them a battling 1-0 win over Burnley.
Neither side created anything early on as there was a real lack of quality in Lancashire but a touch of the sublime from Odegaard edged the Gunners in front.
Ashley Westwood’s trip on Bukayo Saka offered the Norwegian a chance to showcase his talents and the former Real Madrid man bent home a superb strike past Nick Pope.
Both teams worked hard to inject something into the tie after the break as Aaron Ramsdale bravely kept out Westwood before England stopper Pope denied Emile Smith-Rowe on the break.
Sean Dyche’s side did almost force themselves back into it late on but some VAR controversy denied them an equaliser.
Referee Anthony Taylor initially pointed the spot as Ramsdale tangled with Matej Vydra but in the end technology tip in favour of Arsenal as Arteta makes it back-to-back wins.
Full Time from Turf Moor it’s Burnley 0 Arsenal 1
