Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish has been on the radar of Manchester United for almost a decade.

Grealish has enjoyed an outstanding season for Villa, with reports claiming Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is willing to bid for the player in the upcoming transfer window.

But Grealish isn’t a new target for Manchester United – former Villa manager Alex McLeish has revealed that United were chasing the midfielder’s signature in 2012, when Grealish was just 16 years of age.

Speaking to the Claret&Blue podcast, McLeish said:

“When we played Man United we heard Grealish was in a restaurant being courted by one of the agents to try and get him to Man United.

“We were a bit alarmed about that so we fought well to keep him. We knew he loved Villa.”
