Manchester United have a defensive injury crisis to deal with as they aim to exercise the Villarreal ghost t Old Trafford tonight.

United face Villarreal less than five months since their penalty shootout defeat which saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side fall just short in the Europa League final.

And with the weight on recent history already on his shoulders, Solskjaer also has to cope without three of his first choice back line.

England pair Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw both miss out through injury with Aaron Wan-Bissaka starting a two-game ban.

Diogo Dalot and Victor Lindelof look set to come in for Maguire and Shaw but Scott McTominay could potentially find himself pressed into emergency cover as Solskjaer looks to replace Wan-Bissaka at right back.

However, Unai Emery is not without his own problems ahead of the trip to Old Trafford with top scorer Gerard Moreno also set to miss out.
