Manchester United have taken another step towards sealing a Top Four finish as they battled back to win 3-1 at Tottenham.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side end the weekend with a nine-point cushion inside the Champions League spots as Spurs looking increasingly likely to miss out.
Neither side created much in tight and scrappy opening half hour with United angered by the VAR gods in London.
Edinson Cavani lashed home Paul Pogba’s through ball inside the box but referee Chris Kavanagh ruled it for a ridiculous foul by Scott McTominay.
And to rub salt into United’s wounds, Spurs took full advantage as Son buried their first chance of the night.
Harry Kane’s cushioned pass released Lucas Moura and his square ball was calmly tucked away by the South Korean.
But all credit to United, they refused to be setback by their first half frustration, as Brazilian star Fred hauled them level on the hour.
Cavani’s fierce strike was too much for Hugo Lloris to hold on to and the United fans favourite reacted sharply to bury his first goal in over two years.
And that strike drove United on in the last 20 as they pushed for the winner with Lloris at full stretch to keep out Bruno Fernandes.
But just as Jose’s Spurs look set to dig in for a point Cavani popped up to avenge his earlier finish.
Substitute Mason Greenwood’s back post cross was a peach and Cavani peeled off Eric Dier to power
And teenage star Greenwood got himself in on the act in added time as he forced home Pogba’s cross.
Full Time from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium it’s Tottenham 1 Manchester United 3
