Manchester City have formally kicked off Jack Grealish transfer talks with Aston Villa in the last 24 hours.

City have been linked with a bold move to the England star in the coming weeks and the defending champions are now showing they do indeed mean business.

Reports from The Guardian claim City are prepared to play hardball over the deal with Villa prepared to stand firm on their £100m asking price.

And with the ball still in Villa’s court as it stands the Midlands side could offer him a bumper pay rise to finally see off City’s interest.

But in reality, the next move in the saga will come down to the player himself, as his Mykonos adventure and he heads to sunny Birmingham to make the biggest decision of his career.
