Manchester City have secured a Top Four finish thanks to another ruthless performance and a 5-0 win away at Brighton.

Raheem Sterling continued his brilliant recent form with a hat trick, alongside timely goals for Gabriel Jesus and Bernardo Silva.

City struggled on their last visit to the south coast, with defeat at Southampton, but they were in clinical mood at the AMEX.

Jesus and Sterling both tested Matt Ryan in the opening stages, as City looked ready to grind Brighton down before the break.

And with the Seagulls hanging on and just trying to avoid the worst right from the start, Sterling fired City in front on 20 minutes.

Once the seal was broken on Brighton’s defence, there was no stopping City, as Jesus made it 2-0 just before the break.

Guardiola’s side showed no signs of slowing down after the restart, as Sterling nodded home his second of the night.

Brighton simply had no answer as City kept ploughing on, and Silva made it 4-0 as an overworked Ryan spilled his original shot straight back to him.

And with the hosts on the back an old-fashioned hiding, Sterling finally got his hat trick in closing minutes, heading home on the ground after a defensive collapse from Brighton.
