Manchester City showed off their new Premier League crown in Friday night as Pep Guardiola’s side squeezed out a bonkers 4-3 win at Newcastle.
Defending was not on the agenda for either team on Tyneside as a superb Ferran Torres hat trick clinched the win for City.
With nothing left to play for at St. James, both managers left the hand brake off early on.
Emil Krafth got the balling for the Magpies as he powered home Jonjo Shelvey’s corner, but City dragged themselves level with a quick-fire double.
Joao Cancelo’s strike trickled through to beat Martin Dubravka at the back post before Torres flicked home a ridiculous second.
However, despite looking set to go under before the break, Newcastle bounced back before the whistle as Joelinton smacked home from the spot.
And the nonsense continued again after the break as Joe Willock tucked home the rebound from his missed penalty before the champions finally woke themselves up.
Guardiola’s mood had turned from party to party pooper in the final half hour as he demanded City show their mettle.
Torres was the at the heart of the fight back as he poked them back level from Kyle Walker’s cut back and the Spaniard wrapped up his hat trick after Cancelo’s effort came back off the post to complete a strange night in Newcastle.
