Manchester City are just two points away from the Premier League title as Pep Guardiola’s treble chasers picked up a 2-0 win at Crystal Palace.
The Spaniard made nine changes from their midweek Champions League win over PSG but there was no let up in quality from City as the returning Ferran Torres and Sergio Aguero clinched a battling three points in the capital.
But despite being edged out of it after the break it was to Palace who created the better early chances as Ederson produced an instinctive stop to keep out Christian Benteke.
However, despite Palace’s consistency organisation at the back, City class eventually broke through on hour as two quick fire finishes flipped the game.
Aguero offered a timely reminder of what he can do with trademark smash from Benjamin Mendy’s cross before Torres kept it together to stroke home an instant second.
And those strikes did look to have opened the floodgates late as Raheem Sterling thudded one off the post and Aguero drew a fine stop from Vicente Guaita.
But in the end two goals were more than enough for City as Guardiola turns his attention to Tuesday and their semi-final showdown with PSG.
