Manchester City are targeting a big money move for Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish, according to the Independent.
Pep Guardiola is understood to be a big admirer of the 25-year-old, who has impressed since Aston Villa returned to the Premier League last season.
After staying up last season after a late improvement, Grealish was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer, but now the other side of Manchester has joined the race.
Guardiola is believed to have discussed the midfielder’s talent with Kevin De Bruyne, after the pair faced each other in the Nations League recently. Grealish has openly said numerous times in the past that he admires the Belgian midfielder and tries to replicate his game.
Grealish signed a new five-year deal in September, and the agreement is likely to mean his asking price is close to £100m. Whether or not City will spend that much is another thing, but they certainly seem to have moved ahead of their cross-city rivals in the hunt for one of England’s brightest talents.
