Liverpool’s Boxing Day clash with Leeds United has become the first festive Premier League clash to be postponed due to Covid-19.

Despite previous assurances from the Premier League over the upcoming games, the tie between Liverpool and Leeds has now been called off.

The decision comes after Leeds confirmed a new rise in positive cases within their squad in the last 24 hours with details of a new date expected to be confirmed in the New Year.

Leeds have also announced the closure of their Thorp Arch training ground as a precaution with an update on their midweek tie with Aston Villa set for the next 48 hours.
