Liverpool’s Premier League title push suffered a major blow in their final outing of 2021 as Jurgen Klopp’s side slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Leicester.

Liverpool edged out Leicester in Carabao Cup action before Christmas but Brendan Rodgers got his Premier League revenge on a damaging night for Klopp.

The Reds dominated the opening stages at the King Power but Mo Salah fluffed his big chance to break through.

Wilf Ndidi’s clumsy challenge brought him down inside the box but the Egyptian’s poor spot kick was kept out by Kasper Schmeichel.

And Schmeichel continued his running battle with Salah with two more crucial stops before the break.

However, despite the second 45 following the pattern, Liverpool continued to waste chances.

That left Leicester in the contest late on as substitute Ademola Lookman grabbed his chance to win it.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall slipped in the former Everton man and he sidestepped two tackles to power one past Alisson.

Full Time from the King Power Stadium it’s Leicester City 1 Liverpool 0
