Burnley’s winless end to 2021 has continued into 2022 as they slipped to a 3-1 defeat away at Leeds.

Both sides headed into this one in need of a morale boosting three points, but it was Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds side who kicked off the New Year with a win against Burnley.

And as always at Elland Road, this one started at breakneck speed with Chris Wood and Tyler Roberts both wasting early chances.

But it was Leeds that offered up a positive response as Jack Harrison squeezed home following James Tarkowski’s mistake.

However, that goal didn’t deter Burnley after the break, as substitute Maxwell Cornet curled home a magic free kick.

But again, the see sawed back in Leeds’ favour as Bielsa’s side finally killed it off.

Northern Ireland international Stuart Dallas curled the Whites back in front late on before Dan James produced a jack in the box leap to nod home the clincher.

Full Time from Elland Road it’s Leeds United 3-1 Burnley
