Kieran Tierney is closing in on a return to action for Arsenal according to reports.

The Scotland international missed the Gunners’ 1-0 Premier League defeat at Aston Villa on Saturday due to alleged discomfort in his right leg.

Ex-Celtic man Tierney has been sidelined several times in his Arsenal career so far but has been labelled one of the club’s more impressive signings in recent seasons for what he has shown on the pitch when fully fit.

Mikel Arteta has had a fair deal of selection issues to contend with this campaign with a multitude of injuries and suspensions.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, scans on Tierney’s lower leg issue have come back clear and the full-back may be closer to a return than originally anticipated.

Arsenal will continue to monitor the situation, but a swift return for Tierney can only benefit the Gunners who have had a lacklustre season to date.
