Mexican striker returns with special headband
There was delight all round as Raul Jimenez scored his first goal since fracturing his skull at Arsenal.
It’s been almost ten months since the Mexican was ruled out for the most of the season having collided with David Luiz.
The 30 year old has been cleared to play with a protective headband, which has more in common with what we sometimes see tennis players wear, rather than what we saw Petr Cech wearing following a similar injury.
The Mexico international appeared in Wolves pre-season friendly against Stoke and it took him only half an hour to demonstrate he still has the striking instincts and ability that made him a force to be reckoned with.
There was more good news for the travelling fans as England defender Conor Coady looked on good form as he played the full 90 minutes on his first appearance since Euro 2020, and Midfielder Ruben Neves, who has been linked with a move away from Molineux this summer, also made an appearance in the first half.
But while Jimenez continues his return to fitness, Willy Boly will be out of contention for a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury that could see him miss the first game of the new season against Leicester.
