It’s ended all square on the South Coast in Sunday’s Premier League action as a James Ward-Prowe inspired Southampton battled back to draw 2-2 at Brighton.
Both Southampton and Brighton will be pushing for a top half finish next month and Ward-Prowse’s set piece excellence will give the Saints a fighting chance.
However, despite Southampton’s second half response, it was Brighton who dominated the opening stages as Danny Welbeck poked home Marc Cucurella’s cross.
That fast start did open up the contest before the break, with Che Adams and Welbeck both frustrated, before Mo Sailsu stabbed home an own goal, with Welbeck ready to pounce.
But, Southampton refused to give up before the whistle, as Ward-Prowse bent home a fantastic free kick.
And with their confidence restored, Ralph Hassenhuttl’s side picked up the challenge after the restart as Ward-Prowse smashed home a brilliant leveller.
Full Time from the AMEX Stadium it’s Brighton 2 Southampton 2
