Harvey Elliott stretchered off, Struijk sent off
Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott suffered a serious-looking ankle injury after a challenge from Pascal Struijk around an hour into the game.
IT resulted in a red card for the Belgian after the tackle was looked at by VAR.
The injury comes just as Elliott was becoming an established figure in the Anfield outfit, but there was some good news as the player posted a picture to social media of himself from the ambulance thanking fans for their messages of support, saying he was “on the road to recovery.”
The injury to Elliott overshadowed what had been a good game with Salah, Fabinho, and Mane getting their names on the scoresheet as Liverpool registered 30 shots.
The game saw Mo Salah’s 100th premier league goal, his 98th for Liverpool, and Leeds fans will remember it for Dan James making a late debut.
The result means Liverpool move into joint third in the table, equal on goal difference with Chelsea and Man Utd, while Leeds find themselves just above the relegation zone, still without a win so far this season.
