Southampton are running out of time if they are to secure a move for Heerenveen midfielder Joey Veerman.
Saints are said to have scouted the Dutchman for a prolonged period of time and are keen to bring him to St Mary’s.
However, with under a week to go until the transfer window shuts, Ralph Hasenhuttl will have to be quick to secure the 21-year-old’s signature.
Southampton have been linked with a loan move for Everton’s Tom Davies in recent weeks, too, as the club look for a replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg who joined Spurs earlier in the window.
Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf – as picked up by Sport Witness – suggest that a move for Veerman could take place ‘in the coming days.’
The midfielder recently signed a new deal at Heerenveen to keep him at the club until 2024, so Saints will need to dip in to their pockets to secure his services, with the Eredivisie club knowing they can claim a ‘top prize’ from the midfielder’s sale.
Southampton are becoming increasingly desperate for a midfielder as the clock ticks down towards the transfer deadline on October 5th.
