City lose to the FA Cup holders

Jack Grealish made his Manchester City debut from the bench, but it was another substitute – former Blue Kelechi Iheanacho, who won the community shield for Leicester.

The Nigerian continued his great form from the end of last season, scoring an 89th-minute penalty awarded after he was tackled by Nathan Ake.

Pep Guardiola was missing Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden amongst others and filled the gaps with teenagers Samuel Edozie, Ben Knight, and Cole Palmer.

Edozie has been on fire scoring in all three preseason friendlies but was unable to make the most of a through ball from Ilkay Gundogan in his first competitive fixture.

But the game will be remembered by fans as the first time they got to see Jack Grealish playing in a City shirt just two days after becoming the most expensive British player ever.

The £100 million man came on as a substitute in the 65th minute but was unable to make the difference.
