Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to continue their spending on Portuguese talent by signing Porto midfielder Vitor Ferreira on loan for the season.
The promising 20-year-old will become the tenth Portuguese player at the club when the move goes through, which is more than six of the 18 teams in the Portuguese Liga NOS.
Ferreira will be available for Wolves to sign permanently for a fee of €20m, and will join up with the club to make things official after he has played for Portugal’s under-21’s alongside fellow Wolves players Ruben Vinagre and Pedro Neto.
The pair, along with the rest of the strong Iberian contingent at Molineux, should help Ferreira acclimatise easily to life in the Midlands.
Ferreira is an attacking midfielder who broke into the Porto team at the beginning of 2020, and has played eight league games for the multiple-time Portuguese champions. He has been at the club his entire career, having joined as a 13-year-old back in 2013.
His agent is Jorge Mendes, who has masterminded much of Wolves’ transfer activity in recent years, including the recent deal to sell Matt Doherty to Tottenham Hotspur.
