Liverpool’s miserable run of Anfield form has stretched on to six straight defeats as relegation battling Fulham picked up a 1-0 win on Merseyside.
The defending champions have now slipped further behind in the race for the Champions League as Scott Parker’s improving side edge to within touching distance of safety.
Despite finding themselves struggling down the bottom it was Fulham who posed the biggest threat early on as Josh Maja fired wide and former Everton star Ademola Lookman was inches away from a spectacular opener.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were much less free flowing before the break with Xherdan Shaqiri’s whipped free kick their best chance of the first 45.
And with the Reds unable to get a grip before half time Mario Lemina pounced on Mo Salah’s error inside the box to fire past Alisson.
But with Klopp’s half time message ringing in their ears the hosts were transformed after the restart as Alphonse Areola produced a world class stop to keep out Diogo Jota.
Fulham stuck to their task in the final half hour as Liverpool probed and pushed to break them down.
But despite substitute Sadio Mane’s header clipping the post the Cottagers back line cruised through to the final whistle.
Full Time at Anfield it’s Liverpool 0 Fulham 1
