AFC Bournemouth have revealed that Ryan Fraser has declined to sign a short-term contract extension with the club.

Speculation has been rife over the winger’s future in the last 18-months, with consistent links to a move to Arsenal.

The Scottish international, who is known as ‘wee man’ by his teammates due to his diminutive stature, has been a Cherries player since 2013, enjoying success with the club on their journey from League One to the Premier League.

Eddie Howe’s side occupy one of the division’s three relegation places upon the Premier League’s resumption, with Bournemouth’s 5-year top flight stay under threat.

The Cherries released a statement on Wednesday outlining that Fraser had turned down a short-term contract offer, which would have made him eligible to play in the club’s remaining fixtures as they attempt to secure survival.

Some may argue that Fraser is simply protecting his chances of a more lucrative move by refusing to pen a deal – others may suggest it is a sad culmination to a 7-year long career at the club, and he could have perhaps given something back.
