There was to be no Cristiano Ronaldo rescue act for Manchester United this weekend as the Red Devils slipped to a late 1-1 draw with Everton.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side dominated the majority the game in Manchester but their missing cutting edge allowed Everton to nick himself a battling point.

Both side looked to carry a threat in the early stages as Anthony Martial and Michael Keane nodded chances just wide.

But it was United who looked to go up the gears before the break as England No.1 Jordan Pickford superbly denying Edinson Cavani.

And as the hosts began to turn the screw before the whistle a rare Martial goal edged them in front.

Mason Greenwood’s pass was touched on by Bruno Fernandes and the Frenchman stepped inside to bend one past Pickford.

Solskjaer did try to force home the advantage in the second 45 as he threw on Jadon Sancho and Ronaldo late on.

However, with United unable to turn that squeeze into goals, a determined Everton seized their chance.

Demarai Gray’s persistence bullied Fred off the ball in midfield and Abdoulaye Doucoure’s flick released Andros Townsend in the box and the former Palace man steadied himself and fire home the equaliser.
