Everton could be less than 48 hours away from announcing Rafa Benitez as their new boss according to reports from Sky Sports.

Former Liverpool manager Benitez has rocketed up the list of favourites to replace Carlo Ancelotti at Goodison Park with Premier League pair Nuno Santo and Graham Potter now out of the race.

Benitez has been locked in talks with Toffees owner Farhad Moshiri over the job for the last week with a deal rumoured to be very close.

However, a move for the Spanish boss has split opinion amongst Evertonians due to his association with arch rivals Liverpool and a perceived negative tactical approach during his time at Newcastle.

But despite the opposition, Moshiri looks increasingly close to securing his man and we could see Rafa back on Merseyside next season.
