Everton are trying to sign Bayern Munich striker Joshua Zirkzee, according to press in Germany.
The Toffees are in the market for an attacker, and are keen on the out-of-favour Bayern man, who has fallen out of Hansi Flick’s plans after impressing last season.
The 19-year-old Dutch striker scored four goals in nine games last season as he made a breakthrough into Bayern’s first-team, providing backup to the lethal Robert Lewandowski.
But so far this year, he’s played just four games, and is currently suspended after being sent off playing for Bayern’s second team against 1860 Munich earlier this month.
Since Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s hamstring injury, Everton have looked light in attack and adopted a false nine formation when they beat Wolves in the Premier League earlier this month, a sure sign that they aren’t comfortable with just Cenk Tosun as the Englishman’s backup.
A deal for the striker is reportedly “complicated” as Everton ideally want a purchase option included in a loan deal, but Bayern aren’t entirely comfortable in letting the promising youngster leave permanently.
With 10 days remaining in the transfer window, Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping a deal can be struck ahead of a busy fixture schedule.
