Arsenal technical secretary Edu has moved to defend the club’s transfer spending this summer.

The Brazilian has overseen over £150m of transfers in recent weeks with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta heavily backed in the transfer window.

But despite bringing in new faces including Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale and Martin Odegaard, Arsenal’s dreadful form means they find themselves rock bottom of the Premier League.

Three defeats from three before the international break has piled yet more pressure on Arteta but Edu has come forward to back the strategy.

The former Gunners midfielder claimed their big picture policy of signings predominantly players under 23 would pay a positive dividend in future.

But as for the here and now, Arsenal fans are expected to grow even more frustrated.
