New Chelsea keeper Edouard Mendy has returned to the club after suffering an injury on international duty with Senegal.

Mendy was released from the squad due to a thigh problem with the Blues subsequently flying him back to London for tests.

He is now expected to miss next weekend’s Premier League clash with Southampton, but the injury will not keep him out for longer than 10 days, meaning he will fit to face Sevilla.

His absence could be a return for the under fire Kepa Arrizabalaga to the starting line-up, with the Spaniard now fighting for his future ahead of a potential January exit for the world’s most expensive goalkeeper.
