Manchester United's Ralf Rangnick honeymoon has hit its first bump in the road as they drew 1-1 at Newcastle.

Rangnick’s Manchester United side were fortunate to escape Newcastle with a point in this as Edinson Cavani salvage a late draw.

The Magpies clicked into gear from the start as Allan Saint-Maximin slalomed through to fire past David De Gea.

But the Spanish keeper was to keep his side in it either side of the break with key stops from Jonjo Shelvey and Saint-Maximin.

But with the door left open, United came to life late on as Cavani steered home Bruno Fernandes’ ball.

However, Newcastle did look to push again in the final moments as De Gea again saved United’s bacon.
