Dean Smith has enjoyed a dream debut this weekend as Norwich City snapped up a 2-1 win at home to Southampton.
Smith joined the Canaries from Aston Villa during the international break and his first game yielded just their second win of the campaign against Southampton.
However, despite the final result, Norwich suffered a nightmare start for Smith as Che Adams bundled the Saints in front.
But with the positivity flowing around Carrow Road, Norwich immediately hit back, as star man Teemu Pukki nodded home Max Aarons’ cross.
And as the game continued to see saw before the break, Adams was inches away from a second for Southampton, only for Tim Krul to pull off a brilliant stop.
However, as the tie settled into a slug fest in the second 45, Norwich always looked to have that extra gear as Pukki tested Alex McCarthy,
And in different circumstances this tie may well have drifted off to a draw late on but Norwich skipper Grant Hanley outjumped his man from Billy Gilmour’s corner to seal a winning start for Smith.
Full Time from Carrow Road it’s Norwich City 2-1 Southampton
