Chelsea's Premier League title tilt has been dealt another blow in their final game of 2021 as the Blues were held to a 1-1 draw by Brighton.

Thomas Tuchel’s ire against the festive fixtures continued to rage at full time as Brighton snatched a late late equaliser against Chelsea.

The hosts made all the early inroads in this one as Cesar Azpilicueta clipped a post and Robert Sanchez thwarted Mason Mount.

And all that early pressure paid off before the break as Romelu Lukaku got away from Neal Maupay to nod home Mount’s corner.

But, Chelsea’s familiar lack of ruthlessness reared its head after the break with Jakub Moder causing Edouard Mendy to scramble.

That set up an inevitable tense finale and it was super-sub Danny Welbeck who got up highest to power home for a point.

Full Time from Stamford Bridge it’s Chelsea 1 Brighton 1
