Chelsea chase Declan Rice, Manchester look at alternatives for Jadon Sancho and Gareth Bale is a Spurs player! Jim rounds up the latest Transfer news.
The biggest transfer story of the week HAS to be Gareth Bale who is about to join up with old manager Jose Mourinho at Tottenham.
The Welshman had one of the finest ever individual seasons of any Premier League player in a Spurs shirt and Daniel Levy will be hoping he recaptures some of that form in a loan deal that will see the London club paying just 50% of the players wages.
He’s due in London today (Friday 18th September) and has a round of golf booked with Levy and Steve Hitchen to hammer out the deal! Disclaimer: it’s fake, but funny!
Elsewhere Manchester United may have got bored of chasing Jadon Sancho after failing to get Borussia Dortmund’s valuation to what they believe is an acceptable level so have started to look at alternatives.
Watford’s impressive winger Ismaila Sarr is currently topping their list according to the Independant with the 22 year old available for around £36m.
They’ll face competition from Liverpool however who also fancy the Senegalese and are looking to recruit further having already signed Thiago from Bayern for £27m this week.
Its one keeper out and one keeper in for Arsenal who are continuing their busy transfer window by looking for a replacement for Emiliano Martinez who has joined Aston Villa for £17m… they fancy Brentford’s 25-year-old goalie David Raya who you’d imagine would very much as back up for Bernd Leno.
They are also being linked to Icelandic keeper Runar Alex Runarsson who will be available for the much more reasonable price of £2m.
The Gunners have clearly found a few quid under the mattress because this follows news earlier this week that they where trying to sign Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey – the former one of the most exciting attacking players in Europe right now.
West Ham are continuing to pester James Tarkowski to move to the London Stadium refusing point blank to accept a ‘No’ from a player who doesn’t want to move to London and a club who don’t want to sell him.
In typical West Ham style they’ve not offered more cash in the deal however and instead, according to Sky Sports have offered to restructure the deal, presumably paying more of the £30m on the table upfront rather than in installments and clauses.
Rather than bringing in players it could be that West Ham are about to lose one of their best. Chelsea, having seemingly tied up the signing of goalkeeper Edouard Mendy have turned their attention elsewhere are are preparing a bid for England’s Declan Rice.
Whether an agreement can be reached or not is another matter with The Athletic reporting that the Chelsea hierarchy are reluctant to spend upwards of £75m on the player having already bought in over £200m of new players.
West Ham however suggest they will stand firm on their £80million valuation.
