Hakim Ziyech is closing in on his first Chelsea start claims manager Frank Lampard.

Ziyech has made just 3 appearances for the Blues since his £36m switch from Ajax this summer, all of them off the bench.

An early knee injury had kept the Morocco international out of the Chelsea picture until mid-October, with the 27-year-old battling to get back to fitness.

But despite the limited game time so far, gaffer Frank Lampard insists Ziyech’s full debut isn’t too far away.

Speaking to the official club website, Lamps said:

“Hakim Ziyech is getting closer to starting a game with his fitness. I’ve got no worries about that. I am very, very happy with the players.”

Chelsea’s next test comes in the Champions League on Wednesday as they travel to Russia to play FC Krasnodar.
