Mario Pasalic has made his loan deal at Atalanta permanent after the Serie A club exercised their option to buy clause.

Pasalic has been on Chelsea’s books since 2014, joining for £3m from Hajduk Split in the same transfer window that saw Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas arrive at Stamford Bridge.

The Croatia international has failed to make a single Premier League appearance for Chelsea, having spent time on loan at Monaco, Elche and Spartak Moscow in his 6 seasons as a Blues player.

After penning a new Chelsea deal until 2022 last summer, Pasalic was sent on loan to Italian side Atalanta for the second successive season.

The midfielder has become a crucial part of an Atalanta side which achieved Champions League qualification last campaign, with a 3rd placed Serie A finish.

Now Atalanta have exercised their €15m (£13.4m) option to buy clause to keep Pasalic on a permanent basis.
