Chelsea’s reported move for Jules Kounde looks to have hit a deadline day end as Sevilla look to stand their ground on the French international.
Chelsea have been locked talks for a deal since the start of August with Sevilla determined to hang on for a €80m asking price.
However, despite making room in the squad by shifting Kurt Zouma on to West Ham earlier this week, Chelsea’s push for Kounde has stalled.
Sevilla’s iconic director of football Monchi has confirmed Chelsea did submit an offer earlier this but the suggested fee fell well short of their price.
And Chelsea are now likely to turn their attentions elsewhere in the coming hours with Kounde set to remain in Spain.
