Chelsea goalkeeper Willy Caballero has insisted N’Golo Kante has the full support of his Blues teammates following his coronavirus fears.
Kante was excused from training last week after concerns over his health, with Covid-19 still very much present in the UK.
Caballero, who recently signed a new Chelsea contract, has revealed Kante tested negative for the virus but did admit on a zoom call with the rest of the squad to being frightened to return to training.
Caballero said on Instagram live:
“It’s very understandable. He tested negative for Covid-19 but he had a bad time of it during quarantine with symptoms of the virus that gave him that fear.”
Shortly before the World Cup in 2018, Kante’s brother died of a cardiac arrest – a matter of weeks after the Frenchman himself collapsed unexpectedly.
With scientific research unclear on how coronavirus may adversely affect people of a BAME background, Kante’s decision is widely understood.
It is unknown when Kante will return to Blues training.
