Conor Gallagher praised by Gareth Southgate

Young midfielder Connor Gallagher, currently on loan at Crystal Palace, has earned himself an England call-up for the qualifier against San Marino as a result of other squad members picking up injuries.

Although yet to make his Chelsea debut, the 21-year-old midfielder is enjoying an impressive season, having scored four Premier League goals in just 10 games since joining Palace.

Speaking ahead of the game, England manager Gareth Southgate said that Gallagher has the mentality to reach beyond the level that a lot of players get to.

He also praised him for his desire and willingness to work for the team and for his approach to every game. He also was keen to emphasise that he was there on merit.

With so many players missing through illness and injury, this is a great opportunity for Gallagher to get himself a little more attention.
