Chelsea have moved a stepped closer to replacing under fire goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, with a bid accepted for Rennes stopper Edouard Mendy.
Blues boss Frank Lampard has consistently stated his intention to stick by £72m Kepa, but after another high-profile mistake in last weekend’s defeat against Liverpool, his future remains unclear.
Lampard has been super busy in the summer transfer market, bringing in over £200m worth of talent to Stamford Bridge, but his goalkeeping situation remains a big question mark.
But despite the consistent speculation over Kepa’s future at the club, Lampard is expected to resist calls to drop him for this weekend’s game against West Brom.
However, if a move for Mendy is completed within the next 48 hours, the clash with the Baggies could be Kepa’s last for the Blues.
