The Quadruple dream is over for Manchester City as Pep Guardiola’s side slipped to a 1-0 FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea.
Hakim Ziyech’s second half strike was enough to put Thomas Tuchel’s side into the final next month as City chances of a historic season have been ruthlessly stopped.
Neither side created much in drab opening half hour with Ben Chilwell clipping a weak effort just wide.
But with little just to split them after the break it was Tuchel’s side that took advantage of some strange City defending.
Stand in keeper Zak Steffen opted to race out and close down Timo Werner on the break but the German star kept his calm to slide in Ziyech for a tap in.
And with an oddly off key City unable to rouse themselves late, Chelsea could and should have extended their Wembley advantage as Steffen denied Ziyech.
Guardiola’s side did carve out one late chance to send the game to extra time but Kepa reacted brilliantly to claw out Rodri’s header.
Full Time from Wembley Stadium it’s Chelsea 1 Manchester City 0
