Champions League winners Chelsea will be amongst the favourites to make a tilt at the Premier League title this season.
And Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea kicked off the campaign with a routine 3-0 win over Crystal Palace.
The European Champions were unable to field new signing Romelu Lukaku but his new side were simply too much for Palace at the Bridge.
It was all one-way traffic early on as England star Mason Mount a fine stop from Vicente Guaita.
And with Patrick Vieira’s Palace unable to stem the tide before the break, Spanish wing back Marcos Alonso stepped up to swerve a brilliant free kick.
That dominance showed no signs of letting up before the whistle as American winger Christian Pulisic bundled home Alonso’s cross to make it 2-0.
Despite the game being pretty much done and dusted after the restart, master of the details Tuchel was determined to see his side maintain their standards.
And there was time on the hour for Premier League debutant Trevor Chalobah swerving home a deserved third.
