Edinson Cavani won’t be making his Manchester United debut against Newcastle this weekend as he will miss the game due to coronavirus protocol.

The Uruguayan striker was signed by United last week on a free transfer and will remain in a 14-day self-isolation period after his arrival from France, which is on the UK’s quarantine list.

33-year-old Cavani left former club PSG in June and hasn’t trained with a team group since Ligue 1 was curtailed in March.

Ironically, the striker’s Manchester United debut could come against Paris St-Germain in the Champions League, with Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s side set to face the French champions in the competition next Tuesday.

Manchester United will also be missing Anthony Martial through suspension after his red card in the 1-6 Premier League defeat to Tottenham at Old Trafford.
