Burnley boss Sean Dyche will have to prepare for a return to Premier League action without three key players.

The Clarets’ first game of ‘Project Restart’ takes place on Monday night, with the short trip to Manchester City.

Burnley have not enjoyed a great time of it against Pep Guardiola’s men in recent seasons, losing 8 of the 9 fixtures between the two sides since the Spaniard took charge of City in 2016.

Fresh off the back of a comfortable 3-0 win over Arsenal, the current Premier League champions will represent an even tougher proposition considering the Clarets will be without three of their most influential performers.

Iceland international Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson will miss out due to a calf strain, whilst top-scorer Chris Wood will be absent after picking up an Achilles problem.

A long-term injury will keep Ashley Barnes on the sidelines too, as he continues to recover from an operation undertaken earlier this year.
