Brighton midfielder Dale Stephens is set to undergo a medical ahead of a move to Premier League rivals Burnley.
The Clarets have been desperate for fresh faces at Turf Moor, with many fans questioning the lack of business in the transfer window so far.
Manager Sean Dyche has had reservations over his backing in the transfer market in recent months, mainly after the failure to renew contracts of first team players last season – such as now-Newcastle man Jeff Hendrick.
As such the Burnley boss will be pleased to see this move for Brighton’s Dale Stephens edge closer to completion.
Seagulls’ boss Graham Potter yesterday insisted Stephens was still a Brighton player, but now it has been revealed by newspaper The Argus that the 31-year-old will undergo a medical with the Clarets.
Brighton are in Carabao Cup action tonight against Preston, but Stephens will instead head to London to link up with Burnley’s medical team at The Den, where Sean Dyche’s side face Millwall in the third round.
It’s claimed Stephens could even be included in the Burnley squad as soon as this weekend, where they play Southampton in the Premier League.
The fee is believed to be undisclosed.
