Brentford have slipped to their first ever Premier League defeat as a last gasp Brighton rally pinched a late win in West London.
Thomas Frank’s side have equipped themselves well so far in the top flight but the home side were dealt a harsh lesson in the Premier League reality as Leandro Trossard stepped up with a fantastic injury time strike.
But despite the late drama, neither side created much in a drab opening 45 with former England star Danny Welbeck wasting Brighton’s best chance.
That pattern of attacking inconsistency continued once again after the restart as the on form Neal Maupay swerved speculative effort just wide of the post.
But as time ticked on the tie looked destined for a goal less draw in added time but Belgian star Trossard hauled himself up to produce that vital moment of class.
Substitute Alexis MacAllister driving run broke into the Brentford box and Trossard did well to ride two Bees challenges and curl home an emphatic winner.
Full Time from the Brentford Community Stadium it’s Brentford 0 Brighton 1
