Liverpool have missed the chance to put pressure on Premier League leaders Chelsea as they were held to a 2-2 Anfield draw by Brighton.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side stay in second as Leandro Trossard’s goal sealed a point for Brighton.

The first half was to be a tale of taken chances at both ends of the pitch as Brighton threatened and Liverpool pounced.

Reds keeper Alisson produced two huge stops to deny Solly March and Yves Bissouma before the home side reacted with a brilliant brace.

Skipper Jordan Henderson superbly bent home Mo Salah’s cut back before Sadio Mane got himself free at the back post as he reacted to bullet home Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s cross.

However despite that, Graham Potter’s side did finally make one stick in added time, as Enock Mwepu floated one past Alisson.

And that goal gave Brighton the confidence boost they needed after the restart as Trossard popped up to superbly tuck home Adam Lallana’s ball.

Liverpool did carve out chances to retake control late on, but the Brighton back line stood firm to clinch a vital point.

Full Time from Anfield it’s Liverpool 2-2 Brighton
