Brighton have put themselves on the brink of Premier League survival as Graham Potter’s side clinched a 2-0 win over Leeds.
Goals either side of the break from Pascal Gross and Danny Wellbeck were enough to seal all three points as the Seagulls now go 10 points clear of the drop zone.
And Brighton did look the brighter and busier early on, as Leandro Trossard tested Illan Meslier, before Gross tucked home from the spot after Ezgjan Alioski tangled with Wellbeck.
Leeds did look to up the ante before the break but it was Brighton who had the better chances as Trossard lashed over in front of an open goal and Wellbeck dragged one just wide.
The Seagulls struggles to kill it off in the closing stages did almost come back to haunt them as Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds pressed hard for an equaliser.
But in the end a piece Welbeck magic sealed the all-important win.
Adam Webster’s clearing header was kept alive by Neal Maupay and Welbeck superbly pulled down the loose ball, skinned his way past Pascal Struijk and fired a fantastic effort past Meslier.
