Stade Rennais striker M’Baye Niang is attracting interest from Brighton.

The Senegal international has plied his trade in the Premier League before – a short loan spell with Watford in January 2017, scoring twice.

Now the 25-year-old may be on his way back to the English top flight, with Brighton said to be involved in the transfer race.

Niang is enjoying the most prolific spell of his career in France, having bagged 15 goals in 36 games for Rennes this season.

The striker himself has revealed the interest from the Premier League is legitimate, saying:

“It is flattering. There is no smoke without fire. There have been discussions, but today there is nothing concrete.”

Graham Potter is looking to bolster his Seagulls attack, and an in-form Niang may be a wise option when clubs are likely to be stringent with budgets.

However, Brighton aren’t the only contenders for the striker’s signature, with French heavyweights Marseille also said to be keen.
