Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder says he is “sick and tired of people talking about Europe and the Champions League” after his side failed to win any of their two games in the past week.
Speaking after the 0-3 defeat to Newcastle at St James’ Park on Sunday, Wilder said it was “about working in the present, and the present is that we’ve put in two bang average performances this week”.
Since the return of the Premier League, Sheffield United have drawn 0-0 at Villa Park in a game where a technological failure cost them three points, before losing heavily with ten men at Newcastle.
The results leave United seventh in the table, two points off fifth-placed Manchester United, with that position in the table potentially enough for a Champions League place if Manchester City’s European ban sticks.
The Blades take on Manchester United on Wednesday night.
