Fulham have missed the chance to boost their Premier League survival hopes as they lost 3-1 at Aston Villa.

Villa have boosted their own chances of a late European push but Fulham end the weekend three points adrift inside the drop zone.

Scott Parker’s side looked the brighter of the two sides early on as Aleksandar Mitrovic looked to carry on his international hot streak with two quick tests for Emiliano Martinez.

But with the Cottagers exerting all the pressure before the break, centre back Joachim Anderson should have poked them ahead, but his back post effort dropped just wide.

Fulham did look to build on that after the break as Mitrovic pounced on Tyrone Mings’ error to put them in front.

However, it wasn’t to last as Trezeguet smashed home a superb brace to flip the game on its head.

Fulham were unable to react to that as Villa took full advantage of the game tipping in their favour as top scorer Ollie Waktins netted his 11th league goal of the campaign.

Full Time from Villa Park it’s Aston Villa 3 Fulham 1
