Arsenal are rumoured to be edging closer to completing a deal for Brighton defender Ben White.

White, was called up to the England squad as emergency cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold last month, and the former Leeds loanee has established as one of the Premier League’s best young defenders this year.

Thirty six appearances in the Seagulls back line last season has opened the possibility of one of the big boys coming calling this summer.

Liverpool appear to have cooled their interest, but according to reports from The Athletic, Arsenal increasingly confident they can meet Brighton’s £50m asking price.

And despite the Gunners being rumoured to have had a £45m bid rejected last week, this renewed bid could tip the balance in their favour.
